What is Dogecoin? Why is it always trending?

In 2013, IBM and Adobe software engineers created Dogecoin as a joke. It is based on the Shiba Inu “doge” meme that was circulating on social media a few years ago. After Elon Musk became a fan and started tweeting about it, Dogecoin quickly garnered a fanbase and exploded in popularity.

Many people think Dogecoin will go to the moon, but the fact is, there are billions of Dogecoins in circulating supply and millions more are created every day. The price of one DOGE simply cannot reach the heights of Ethereum or Bitcoin because the market cap would be more than the amount of money available in the world.

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s creator, and Elon Musk have been added to the advisory board of the Dogecoin Foundation. Their aim is to find a use case for Dogecoin, but currently, there isn’t one – it really was created as a joke coin.

People thought Dogecoin would die long ago, but it is still alive. Dogecoin and its meme cousin Shiba Inu (SHIB) are ranked in the top 20. When will Dogecoin and SHIB die? Maybe never. Maybe tomorrow.
